Planning and Decluttering

03/25/21 iORGANICE

Hi! Welcome to a brand new edition of the Weekly Review. It’s really exciting to be sharing with you the activities and interesting things that took place in my life the previous week. As customary, these post will soon include snapshots and image selections from my Instagram. There will be an updated WR here next Tuesday. Don’t miss it!

As soon as March started, I felt a strong desire to go through certain spots in my house where clutter had gradually accumulated. Tackling those trouble areas with relative ease reinvigorated the rather stagnant phase I went through during the winter months. It seemed like a weight had been lifted all of a sudden. Had the planets and the stars finally rearranged themselves favorably, perhaps? My energy was aligning with the universe and there was no stopping me. The more I purged, the better I felt.

Driven by the positive results I was swiftly achieving, my decluttering pursuits soon progressed into larger undertakings in other areas of the home. Mimicking the “Energizer” bunny, I just kept going! This was no ordinary check up. Trust me, I tend to be quite on top of my belongings on a regular basis. It’s the way I roll! When I see something out of place or taking valuable real estate without a good enough reason to justify it, to the donation bin it goes. I’m ruthless in that regard. With so much momentum building up, quitting right there and then was not an option. I was ready to let go of as many superfluous things as possible and I was determined to find them.

So far, I had successfully graduated from smaller jobs such as individual drawers, storage boxes, cupboards, and even shelving. Since there was no shortage of stamina, the next logical step was to quickly begin plowing through bookcases and entire closets. I was not going to let any gifted eyesore or useless tchotchke hide from me! My motto is the following: If I don’t love it, I don’t want it around me. It’s that simple.

The tidying up process was very enjoyable. So much so that I became immersed in what I call an organizing frenzy. I loved it! One week later, my home looks cleaner and neater. Living in it is now considerably more rewarding because with less stuff, it is easier to maintain. Prior to this highly effective tactical decluttering maneuver, I already had gathered a sizable amount of donations in a corner of my dining room. All sorts of random articles were waiting to be taken to the local charity. Given the number of items added to that already hefty pile, driving my car to the nearby town of La Grange won’t do it. For this many things, I’m going to need the pick up truck!

Last week, besides getting my house in order, I also felt the urge to look into planners for next year. Even though I checked multiple sites, I ended up making my purchases once again at kikki.K. To my surprise, this beloved Australian brand of mine was advertising an enticing sale. Needles to say, the 20% off promotional discount applied at checkout sealed the deal. My first choice was the 2021 A5 Sweet Weekly Family Diary Sage: Woodland. The functional 6-column format and overall cuteness were hard to resist. The 2021 A5 Weekly Diary Mist Grey: Inspiration also made the shopping cart. Its compact weekly layout on one page and the adjacent partitioned planning section caught my attention immediately. In a single sheet, there is space for top priorities, weekly goals, to dos, daily gratitudes, dinner plans, and habits.

Twenty twenty-one is moving fast and I thought I would reinforce the attainment of my goals by reviewing them beginning this month of March. I still have time to work on my priority list, so why not get ahead of the game while I feel compelled to do so? Wouldn’t you agree? For this purpose, I decided to enlist the extremely thorough and strictly down to business Goal Crazy 90 Day Undated Planner & Journal. I’m serious about accomplishing my objectives and this planner should help me stay on target. The key is to utilize it exactly as intended… every single day. Since I received it within two days of buying it, I wasted no time. It’s been put to use right away!

My journaling journey

No matter how hectic life becomes, I make a point to set aside regular slots of time in my schedule to devote to enjoyable pursuits. Immersing yourself in any sort of creative or artistic endeavor that tickles your fancy constitutes a welcome break from mundane daily routines. Engaging in any type of creative undertaking is beneficial because when you are directing your focus towards a pleasant activity, you are automatically displacing your attention away from the rigors of life. Moreover, while you are captivated by the task at hand, especially when it is a pleasurable and gratifying one, you are in what Abraham-Hicks calls “a state of appreciation.” Basking in such feelings of contentment, delight, and amusement is believed to place you in a favorable position as a deserving recipient of well-being and good fortune. Whether you are doing this in the company of those whom you share a common interest with, or by yourself in the privacy of your home or other conducive surroundings, matters not. What counts is that you are spending time practicing and refining your craft, hobby, or favorite pass time.

Last week, when I was writing about why I wanted to accomplish the main nine objectives that I selected for 2021, I consciously put myself in a state of absolute certainty. No doubts or limitations were allowed in my goal-setting process whatsoever. I kept contemplating the following: “if my wishes had already become reality, what it would feel like?” By engaging my imagination, my dreams were one by one coming true in my mind. Closing my eyes from time to time helped me see myself succeeding and celebrating my achievements every step of the way. I felt a wide array of positive emotions flooding my entire being at every milestone. I was in a state of bliss and my pen moved over the pages as if a supernatural force was taking hold of it. This is how it feels to be present in the now. It is having reached that level of utter well-being and appreciation in which everything seems easily and effortlessly attainable.

Goal Setting

Editor-in-mischief

This is it! The moment of truth arrived on a cool winter afternoon, at last. As I stare at my journal, ready to delve into a frenzied ten-minute writing spree, I take a deep breath in and then a lengthy exhale. I savor one more sip of my warm tea with milk and I close my eyes in pure delight. All of a sudden as if aware of the significance of the event that is about to take place, my little dog lets out an audible sigh. It never fails. That familiar sound captured my attention immedialtely. Reux, my miniature dachshund, is looking at me with a sort of ceremonious expression. It is a look I have soon learned to identify and take into account. He appears to presume that this goal-setting stuff is a rather serious undertaking. That is probably why he is quick to remind me of the importance of focusing on the emotional and spiritual aspect of the matter. He is absolutely right. Good point Reupert! I was about to start the brainstorming session from a dull stoic demeanor, instead of approaching it from a ‘feelings’ perspective. Thus, following my furry collaborator’s wise advice, I go right ahead and press the imaginary reset button. I sink deeper in my chair, I relax my back muscles, I stretch my arms, I take one more sip of tea, one more deep breath, and I smile. Ready, set…. go!

Printable for Your Core Goals

03/11/21 iORGANICE

When it comes to organizing, I can’t emphasize enough that keeping related information or materials together in a single place is of extreme importance. Well, goal setting is no exception, so the same concept applies. That is why using a journal or notebook for this purpose is not only gratifying, but sensible too. That being said, for some of us staring at a blank page may seem a little bit intimidating. This could be especially true when faced with the solemn undertaking of clarifying the vision, goals, and ultimate purpose for all key areas of our life. Thus, for those who would much rather use a three-ring binder as opposed to a notebook or journal, having a few guidelines and a minimal amount of structure can turn this brainstorming aspect of the goal-setting process into a more amenable endeavor.

The printable that I have created to accompany my goal setting 2021 series consists of only three pages, deliberately. My intention is to keep all instructions and processes to a minimum. The first sheet, named How Do You Like Them Apples! is fully lined as to facilitate nonstop, free flow writing. In this section, describe in as much detail as possible, how do you envision your life to look like from this point forward. Do your best to disregard any sort of doubts or limitations that may interfere with your visualization. No dream is out of reach; no goal is too far-fetched. Use the sample questions included in The Road to Goals Galore as a guideline, or merely as inspiration. This initial exercise calls for continuous writing, which should ideally go on uninterruptedly for at least ten minutes. Quite likely, you will need extra pages for this first assignment, so you are welcome to print as many copies of the printable as needed.

The middle piece of the printable, in other words the core, is intended to assist in the selection of nine priority goals for twenty twenty-one. Take a moment to review my post When The Goal Is to Soar before beginning this activity. The more you apply yourself to this task the more fruits your efforts will bear. Once completed, you should have this year’s cream of the crop: 3 main objectives (personal, financial and material) for three major areas of your life. These goals will constitute the focus for the next eleven months. I recommend that you refer to them on a regular basis as to keep them fresh in your mind. Just like they say: an apple a day…

Why Do You Like Them Apples? is the title of the third and last page. Again, feel free to print additional pages if you need to. In this section, you are prompted to express why do you wish to attain each of the goals you just handpicked as top priority for the current year. As I have already mentioned in my previous post, having the why always present is the key to manifesting the life we want for ourselves. So, make sure you use convincing language and upbeat expressions when defining your goals. Think and write positively and you will harvest the desired rewards. After all, don’t we reap what we sow?
